DUNEDIN AMATEUR CLUB’S ROAD RACE The above club held its first road race of the season to-day from the old powder hulk to Rortobello and back, a distance of approximately 21 miles. The inclemency of the weather no doubt accounted for the fact that only a fair field of ten riders turned out. Thompson, the limit man, had the bad luck to get cramp before reaching Broad Bay and was forced to retire. The two front bunches were together at the turn, and at this time were holding their own from the next bunch, who had gained a little o,ir Smart, the virtual scratch man. On the return journey B. Oakes had the misfortune to crash, and J. Kewisb very sportingly stopped to assist him. In a good finish R; Richardson headed Ralston in by a narrow margin. The following are the placings E. Richardson (omin), oOmin 39sec, Ralston (s}min), Slmin 9 l-ssec, 2. Weir (smin), oOmin 49sec, 3. Richardson gained fastest time, with Weir second fastest.
