ORKNEY AND SHETLAND CHOIR
Another excellent concert was presented to an appreciative audience at the R.S.A, Hall on Saturday evening. The Chairman (Mr N. M'Donald) welcomed the members of the Gaelic Society’s Choir, who were to perform. Chief M'Lauchlan, of the Gaelic Society, expressed thanks on their behalf. The opening items were a bracket of Gaelic songs by the choir, -who were led by Conductor Scott. Duets followed, given by Miss D. Davis and Mr Stewart. Mrs Racy sang ‘ John Anderson ’ and ‘ Toll, Bells, Toll.’ Two recitations were heard from Miss Molly Baker—‘ Polling Day ’ and ‘ Simple Simon.' Mr Arthur Lungley was heard singing ‘ Standard on the Braes of Mar ’ and ‘ Loch Lomon, Home, and
You.’ A trio, comprised of Mrs M'Rae, Mrs Hastie, and Mrs M‘lvor, sang Gaelic songs. Next to sing was Mrs Matheson, who rendered ‘ Angus M'Douald.’ Master lan Duckley, who was twice on the programme, gave several humorous recitations. Mr B. Clark sang £ Birds’ Songs at Eventide.’ Selections were then given by, Piper Kenneth Cameron. ‘Robin Adair ’■ was sung by Miss Doris Davis;
Mr Scott was heard singing ‘ M'Gregor’s George.’ • The outstanding - pct\ former was undoubtedly Miss Ethel Wallace, whose violin solos were delightfully rendered. The concluding items were Gaelic songs by the choir. Following supper, the usual dance was held until midnight, music being supplied by Mr Fred. Joyce. The acconw panists- for the evening were Miss C. Millow and Mrs A. Matheson. ' j
