QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATION AT PALACE TRIBUTE TO HER MAJESTY. LONDON, May 27. . The Queen spent her birthday anniversary at Buckingham Palace, where a double celebration was held, taking in the King’s Birthday on June 3. The Queen received hundreds of congratulations, many from i th6 dominions. A family luncheon was held, _ for which the .Prince of Wales specially travelled to London. The Duke of Gloucester was present, prior to his departure for Ulster. A pleasing ceremony occurred when the Princesses and other grandchildren presented gifts. The Royal servants toasted'the Queen in champagne which was the King’s gift. The Sunday Dispatch ’ pays tribute to Her Majesty as standing for unchanging things in home life-—integ-rity, virtue, and kindliness. “ Her Majesty has brought up children on the foundation, of discipline,” says the paper. “ She is a woman before a Queen. Her regality heightens her other qualities, and recalls that, in spite of taking her place in the Council of State during the King’s illness and manifold anxieties, she found time to reply to letters from subjects, such as, * Rub your husband’s chest with camphorated oil when bronchial signs appear.’ “ Although the Queen is sixty-seven, she rises at 8 a.in. for family breakfast at 9, and supervises the household affairs.”
