FAT CATTLE SLIGHTLY EASIER I Generally speaking, the fat cattle sale at Burnside to-day was about tbo same as last week, while there was a slight reduction in sheep. There was also a drop in the store cattle prices. Fat Cattle.—A yarding of 175. There was very fine quality in prime bullocks, while the proportion of cows and heifers was moderate. The demand opened fairly well at a par to 10s easier than last week, prime bullocks making 44s per 1001 b. Prices: Prime heavy bullocks, £l9 10s to £2O; medium, £l7 10s to £lB os; light, £ls 10s to £l6 ss; heavy heifers, £l2 10s to £l3 2s Gd; medium, £ll 15s to £l2 10s; light, £lO 10s to £11: heavy cows, £l2 5s to £l3; medium, £ll 5s to £ll 15s; light, to £lO ss.
Fat Sheep.—Good average to prime quality was seen in the penning of 2,400 sheep, while the porportion of heavy and light prime' wethers was larger than usual. There were a number of ewes in fair to good condition.Wethers eased from Is to 2s a head during the sale, ewes were about Is cheaper, light prime weathers and ewes were unchanged. Prices: Heavy, wethers, 40s 9d to 42s 3d; prime, 36s 6d to 27s Cd; unfinished, 24s to 275; jiest ewes, 34s to 34s 9d; prime, 24s to 275; medium, 15s to 18s. r Fat Lambs.—ln the penning them were 150 of medium to fair quality, with a few pens of extra primes. There was a good demand at unchanged values. Prices: Heavy lambs, 32s to 34s 3d; prime, 27s to 29s 6d; medium, 24s 9d to 25s 6d; unfinished, 22s to 23s Gel; light prime lambs sold at about 7J-d per lb, while heavies sold at about Bi]d per lb. Store Cattle.—A yarding of 200 stores included about sixty two-and-a-balf to three-year-old well bred forward steers, with a balance of cows. A fair demand resulted at a reduction of 15s a- head* Some pens were passed at auction.Prices; Forward throe-year-olds, to £l2; best two-and-a-half to three-year-olds, £lO 1,5 s to £11; cows, unchanged.; Pigs.—Sixty-three fats and twentyeight stores. There was a good demand, porkers improving about 7s 6d and baconers selling freely. Small stores icaliscd about 3s more than previously.
