Amorist and Shipshape were tho early leader’s, but the latter dropped out at the back and Amorist was left in charge from Oriflamb and Lancer together’. Oriflamb went up to the leader rounding the home turn and led to the last fence from Amorist and Lancer. The latter made a game effort in the run to the post, but, Orillarab was not to bo denied and won by a neck. Troilus, who was at tho tail of the small field for the greater part of the journey, finished on into third place, two lengths away, a head in front of Amorist, with Shipshape (who jumped badly) tailed oif. Oriflamb completed his task more solidly than on some previous occasions. Lancer again lost ground nt a coUple of his fences, and did well under the circumstances to run the winner so closely. Amorist gave promise at the home turn, but stopped at_ a critical stage. There was surprising support for Troilus iu the face of his race on Monday. He went very scratehily over the early part, and only struck out when the dying stages wore reached.
The Chokcbore pair, Disorder and Ktraigbtcourse, were the rnediurn ot most speculation in thn Autumn Nursery Handicap, but their supporters •were sorely disappointed. From a good »Urt Francolin, on the extreme outside, and Blue Metal, on the rails, •were most prominent, and were the first to enter the course proper. Blue Metal had a slight advantage from Francolin when straightened up for homo, and in spite of the latter’s game effort under her big weight she was unable to get up, and Blue Metal beat her by a neck. Sir Roland, who was slow over the early part, did his best work over the concluding stages, and’ beat the remainder, two lengths away from, the second horse. My Own, Leading Boy, Disorder, Comiquo, Duellorm, and Straightcourse were next. The winner was a poor fourth in tho Champagne Stakes, but did not receive a good passage. Tho honours were with Francolin, who conceded the winner no less than 2st 61b.
The Yaldburst Handicap provided an interesting race. The favourite, Gay Sonnet, was the quickest to begin, and showed out from Pa purchase, Coot, Raineses, and Nincompoop. Hus was the order to the straight entrance, where Battle Colours moved up from a rear position. Gay Sonnet was still in front at the distance, but from this point Battle Colours gradually overhauled her and had her beaten long before the post was reached, winning comfortably by a lengtii and a-half. % G ay Sonnet was a length in front ot Raineses, with Magna Cliarta dose up next, followed by Paperchasß, Silver Coot, Quarterdeck, and Moratorium, with Nincompoop last. The surprise of the investments was the poor support accorded the winner, this fact being probably attributable to his big impost and to a hurdle horseman being substituted for his first day’s rider, who had the mount on ' Gay Sonnet. The latter ran a solid race in front, but was no match for the winner. Raineses was always in the picture, and stuck to Ins work well, hut Paperchaso once more tailed after occupying a promising position at the straight entrance. Magna Cliarta showed improving form and better

results may he expected from him later. Quarterdeck was again tho slowest to move off and tailed the field until the last furlong.
Starshooter and The Viscount accounted for the bulk of the speculation on the Addington Handicap, hut investors only got a small return from the latter’s second placing. Amourette rushed to the front at tho far turn, and led to tho straight from Evening, The Atom, Starshooter, and Tho Viscount. The leader was done with at the distance, and Evening supplanted her. The Viscount then threw out a challenge, but Evening had too much in hand, and won decisively by two lengths. Poetess, who was last over the early port, worked her way into third place, another two lengths away. Starshooter was a length back in front of Amourette and Swoopalong, with The Atom last.
Tho seven acceptors paraded for the Great Autumn Handicap, and the public went strongly for Nightmarch, Beau Geste, and Scaloim being fairly evenly in demand. From one of 3ir M'Nab’s best efforts Amor was the first to show out, and led to the back stretch from Seatoun, Nightmarch, Count Cavour, Beau Geste, Hoylake, and Pink Note. Hoylake made a forward move passing the mile post, and was Amor’s nearest attendant at the far turn, where Count Cavour and Beau Geste also improved their positions. Nightmarch fell back rounding tho home turn, and Amor led to tho straight entrance from Count Cavour. Beaii Geste, Seatoun, Hoylake, and Pink Note, with Nightmarch on tho rails last. Count Cavour headed Amoi when turned for home with Beau Geste and Seatoun handy. 'The latter took charge "at the and was proclaimed the winner. Nightmarch then put in an appearance on the outside, and responding gamely to vigorous riding wore down Seatoun in the_ final run to the post, and beat him in an exciting finish by a length. Bean Gc.sto finished on better than Count Cavour to deprive him of third money by a length, two lengths away from Seatoun. Pink Note was well back next, with Amor and Hoylake tailed off. Nightmarch was responsible lor a sterling performance. He was being hard ridden in last place passing the half-mile post, and his chance rounding the turn into the straight did nob look at all hopeful. Emerson then took him to the outside and rode him hard from the false rail. Seatoun put up a good fight, bus was well beaten at the finish, !n fact, Nightcarch was going away from him as the lino was crossed. Beau Gueste showed promise at the distance but failed to sustain his effort, and the same remark applies to Count Cavour, who was probably made too much use oi in the middle stages. Amor was responsible for the pace over most of the journey, but ran himself out with a quarter of a mile to go. Hoylake gave a dash of his earlier form, hut also failed to survive the journey, while Pink Note, who went clown very sore in liis preliminary, failed to show his old clash at any part. Rapier was with drawn from the race at 3.25 p.m. on Alonday.
Much interest was centred in Ihe Thirty-seventh Challenge Stakes, Irom which Nightmarch, 3fy Own, and Duellona were withdrawn. Silver Paper attracted most attention on tho machine, being entrusted with twice the number of tickets invested cm Pink Coat, and his total was more than Half of the aggregate. Pink Coat took charge shortly alter the start, and, rounding the far turn, was two lengths in front of First Money, with a similar margin to Silver Paper and Bonrose together. Pink Coat maintained his advantage to the straight entrance, where Silver Paper made a forward move, and drew up to Pink Coat at the distance. Ho was going so freely at this stage that his victory seemed assured, but lie had to do his best to settle the two-year-old, who showed a lot of fight in a. hard finish. Silver Paper, however, held tho advantage to the post, and won by half a length. First Money was five lengths away well clear of Bonrose.
The good field of fourteen paraded for the Papaimi Handicap, Caterpillar finishing up favourite in a well-distri-buted pool. She endeavoured to repeat her first day’s runaway win by leading into the straight from Sea Raid, Huii.y Burly, Night Effort, and Bcrncra, but weight told its tale mthc straight, and she was in distress inside the distance. Sea Raid supplanted her at this pojnt, and ran home an easy winner by two lengths from Noteworthy, who was a similar distance in front of the fast-finishing Winsome Boy. Caterpillar weakened into fourth place, and was followed by Night Effort, Paper Boy, and Hounslow, the remainder being well strung out. Sea, Raid recorded a popular win for her lady trainer, and is developing into a more than useful performer. Noteworthy and Winsome Boy both executed good 'work over the final stages, the latter especially finishing on well from the middle of the field. After the race tl/o stewards held an inquiry into M. Cappio crossing too soon in front of the field at the false rail, and suspended him for two months.
The concluding event of the meeting, the Templeton Handicap, attracted spirited speculation, Great Star being made a much better favourite than Meadow Lark. , Tins pair were prominent from the start, and Great Stalled into thb straight from Meadow Lark, Royal S axon, Booster, and Arrowmir, Both leaders wore in trouble inside the distance, and Booster taking charge soon had the race in hand, going on to win in an easy mariner by two lengths from Buoyant, who was ’a similar distance in front of Arrowmir. Meadow Lark was close up next, followed by Great Star, Royal Saxon, and Riu Tin Tin.
