While oilier parts of Britain were enjoying brilliant' sunshine, the log in the Channel yesterday was so dense that the Southampton mail and passeu gcr ships were brftugbt to a. complete standstill. Several incoming liners were fog-bound off the Isle of Wight, and the cross-Channel steamers had to drop anchor and wait for several hours. Easter traffic was in consequence considerably hampered.
