Tbe summoned meeting of the Loyal Cavcrsbani Lodge,. M.11.J.0,0.1'’., held on Wednesday evening, was largely attended, the N.G.. Bro. Alovvatt presiding. A inunbei of visiting brethren, including 80. Areorc (Loyal Volunteei Lodge, Christchurch), were cordially welcomed. Two members of the district executive P.G.M. Bro. P. Young and P.P.G.AJ. uro. W. ,J. Johnston, wore present, the latter introducing Lu the meeting the new P.G.M., Pro. Young, ilro. Jolmsiou slated he was sure the new executive would be accorded the same hearty support which had always been given by the Caversham Loclg« Bro. Young thanked the members to. their reception, and spoke briefly on executive matters, stilting that the keen interest displayed in the order last year would, he felt"confident, he sustained He referred lo the large intln v ol new members last year (To 0), and urged lodges to concentrate on retaining these. The delegates to the recent district meeting suomi tied a comprehensive report of the proceedings, and were accorded a heartv vole of thanks. U was deemed to enter lor the forthcoming initiat'on competition. Two new members were initiated during the evening. “Ladies’ evening” was a forwards held, when visitors were admitted, and an enjoyable card tournament staged. I\lis Wi'den and Bro. Fay were the prize winners. Tile Loyal Centenary Lodge mol; in tbe Forburv School Hall on Tuesday evening, PG. Bro. M'Alian presiding over a good attendance of members. The meeting opened in mourning for the late Bn. Tuck, and members stood in silence as a mark of respect to his memory. A letter was received from the secretary of the Loyal Alexandra Lodge (Port Alolynenx) advising that the diamond jubilee of the lodge would bo celebrated on April *JO, and extending an imitation to representatives of the Centenary Lodge. The P.C. see. advised that the, annual initiation coinpetition would be held on April 13, and it was decided to cuter for ibis, 'the delegates who represented the lodge at the district meeting reported on the meeting, receiving a vote of thanks for their services, in introducing the new’ P.G.M., Uro. Young, the P. see (Bro. Roscveare) referred appreciatively to the fact that Bro. Young was a frequent visitor to their lodge. Bro. Young was warmly welcomed, and in responding spoke briefly on executive matters. Referring to unemployment and distress caused by the recent Hoods, Bro. Young urged lodges to .submit lo the district executive any eases amongst members which came under their notice. Bro. Conk was appointed to tbe position of guardian, and was duly installed by die P.G..M. During recess members spent a friendly hour in cards, alter which Hie meeting was closed, the, toast of visiting brethren being acknowledged by I.oval Albion, Dunedin, and Hand and Heart, members.
Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge held its quarterly summoned meeting in Hie lodge room, .Port Chalmers, on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance of members, the X.G.. P>ro. L. Jack', in the chair. A motion of condolence with Pro:-.. Godfrcd and .Montgomery was passed l>v members. A nttmhet of hrethren on the sick list were reports 1 to he making good progress. During the meeting one proposition lor membership was received. The Loyal Albion Lodge met on Thursday evening in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Sinai i street, the M.G., Pro. K. Downes, ,n the chair. There was a good aUentiance of tnembeis, a number of visiting" bretl 'cn from Loyal Centenary Valley, Cavorsham, and Hand and ! leave Lodges being welcomed. The ordinary meeting was first held, correspondence including notifies I ion of the annual tnitianon competition, for which it was decided to enter. The P.G.M.. P.C. secretarv. and P.P.G.M. Pro. .Johnston visited the lodge, flic last-named introducing the new P.G.M. (Tiro. P. Young) who was welcomed by the VG and congratulated on his appointment to tie highest office in the district. Pro Young thanked members for 1 licit wek'ome and for the support which lie had always received from the Albion Lodge. The quarterly summoned mceti""- was then opened. The retiring delegates to the Dispensary Hoard were re-eb'et ed. The election of permanent secretary vice lint. W. Sullivan (resigned) was then proceeded with, and Pro. A. G Monk was appointed The new secretary - was installed by the district officers, and suitably responded. It was decided to place on record appreciation of the services of Pro. P. SI abb, who so efficiently carried out fho duties of secretary during the past three months. Pro. iSiahb having volunteered to (ill tho position until the appointment of the new secretary. P.P.G.M. Pro. Johnston also paid a tribute to Pro. Stabb's services during his fit roe years’ term of executive office. At the conclusion of the summoned meeting the ordinary meeting was reopened. Three propositions for membership were received A vote of thanks wav. accorded the lodge delegates to the district meeting. Motions of sympathy were carried with Pros. Power and ft. Loss. At the animal district meeting of the Manchester T'ttil von .Saturday last it was decided that a presentation of an illuminated address hi' made to P.P.G.M Pro. P. Siahh in recognition of his sterling services In the order during his three years as nn executive officer.
