METROPOLITAN BOARD
AH AUCKLAND SUGGESTION [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Alareh 28. The desirability of forming a. metropolitan board to carry out the main functions of local government in Auckland city and suburban districts was discussed at a largely-attended meeting of representatives’ of suburban local bodies, and a Citizens’ Committee was set up to deal M'ith tho matter. The following resolution M'as carried : “ AVe affirm the principle of a metropolitan board, and consider that the time is opportune-to launch a campaign to bring the scheme before the electors for their support.” A sub-committce M'as appointed to draw up a statement covering the proposal, and explaining tho principles of the board.
