EMPIRE Tlio golden thread of patriotism and the indomitable courage that sends Britishers out to the odd corners of the world, there to establish some smaller Britain, is the theme of ‘Tommy Atkins,’ the British international production, which is featured on the Empire Theatre programme, to'be shown finally to-night. Walter Butler, Henry Victor, Lillian Hall-Davis, and Shayle Gardner are the principal players. ‘ Red Hot Speed/ with Reginald Denny and Alice Day in lending roles, is the additional feature of this programme Empire local gazette, chiefly depicting the damage done by the recent flood, and other short pictures are also showing. REGENT The Regent programme, which Has; been showing lor the past week, will lie presented for the last time te-nigbt. The pictorial portion is beaded by ‘ Tim Enemy/ starring Lillian Gish and Ralph Forbes. It is not a war story, although it makes a striking condemnation of war, and is n strong appeal for world peace. The other attraction is entitled ‘ The Main Event/ a. boxing ftorv, featuring Vera Reynolds. Alec Regan, the vocalist, will appear finally to-night. STRAND Buster Keaton proves that ho is a fine picture comedian in his latest comedy entitled ‘ Steamboat Bill. Juu.,’ concluding its run at the Strand Theatre to-night. Although obviously made for laughing purposes only, this picture has the added merit of providing audiences with plenty of thrills, sustained suspense until the sensationaai climax, and a delightful love story, a neglected virtue in many comedies. GRAND AND PLAZA The current bill at the Grand and Plaza Theatres will conclude its run tonight. ‘ This Marriage Business/ a British film starring Estelle Brody and Owen Nitres, is the main picture, and ‘ Flaming Waters/ a story of the oilfields, is the other film. COMMENCING SATURDAY. /His House in Order.’ tno British picture from the play by Sir Arthur Pinero, and a big supporting programme will commence screening on Saturday. EVERYBODY’S To-night will be the last opportunity for lucid lovers of good comedy to see ■ The Farmer’s Daughter ’ at Everybody's Theatre. This is a rural comedy romance, in which Marjorie Beebe makes her debut as a featured player. ■ The Sea. Urchin ’ is the title of the other picture OPEN LVG SATURDA V. ‘ Once and For Ever/ with Patsy Ruth Miller and John Harron, and 'The Sporting Ago/ with Belle Bennett, are the pictures to be shown on the new programme, which opens on Saturday. KING EDWARD Marjorie Beebe in ‘ The Farmer’s Daughter/ a good comedy, and * The Good-bye Kiss ’ will ho shown finally at the King Edward Theatre to-night.
