£750,000 INVOLVED
BIG PROPERTY BEAL [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, March 27. The biggest property deal m the history of the city was completed to-day. it is understood that the total amount involved is about three-quarters of a million pounds. The buddings and the land constitute a triangular block at the corner of High street and Lichfield street, occupied by W. Strange and Company, retailers of drapery, hardware, boots, and furniture—one of the biggest retail firms in the city. The land and buildings have been bought by a syndicate, members of which are not disclosed; but it is believed that two lending members arc Mr T. Armstrong, the head of another big city drapery bouse, and Air W. Macbin (manager of the Fanners’ Co°P|The stock-in-trade of Strange’s has been bought by the Fanners’ Co-op., and the amount paid for the stock is included in the total of. £750,000. The land is three-quarters of an aero in area, and is covered by three-storey buildings.
