EXECUTIVE MEETING A meeting of the executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last night, the president, Mr H. L. 'Paterson, occupying the chair. There were also present Messrs W. F. Forrester, D. R. Waddell, A. Leeden, 11. Hail, A. J. Gordon. A. C. Laing, R. Fnllarton. J. S. Skinner, 11. H. Walker, E. J. Anderson, and A. M/Hntehon. The sub-committee in charge of the arrangements in connection with Popjyy Day reported on the progress already made, and stated that the arrangements .were well forward, and that it was hoped I hat this year’s effort woidd ho the most successful since the inception of the day. r fho organiser, Mi G. Pry re. was present, and reported on the work being doin'. Ho had arranged with Pig Brother Bill to give an address over the wireless, and the chairman ol the "Motor Union, Mr H. E. Davidson, had promised on behalf of his union to assist in selling Poppy Day stickers to ear owners. Messrs Thomson, Ltd., had promised, the loan of their ponies and iloat to parade the streets, and several of the business firms of the city had also agreed to lend assistance with decorated vehicles. The question of land subdivision and fhe possibility of further settlement was fully discussed. Several estates suitable for subdivision wore referred to in committee, and it was decided that the matter be left in the hands of the subcommittee for report. The sub-committee appointed to make arrangements for the celebration of Anzac Day reported that the services at the AVar Memorial and at the King Edward Barracks would be on similai linos to those bold in previous years, and that the Rev. W. MTLoan. of Oamaru, hail been invited to ofliciafe at the public service at the Drill Hall. The nominations of fifteen non - members were received, and one transfer was approved. 'fhe secretary roporled that he anticipated a considerable increase in membership in the near future.
