OTAGO CENTRE The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association (Otago Centre) was held last evening in the Y.M.O.A. rooms, Mr E. L. Macasse.v presiding. TTu> following transfers were granted:—B. Hush (Dunedin to University), E. Biown (Abbotsford to Caversbam), E. A. Nelson (O.A.A.C.C. to Pacific, subject to making himself financial). A. M'Millan (St. Kilda to Hanover Baptist). C. Pearce (Cargill Hoad I to Northern), A. Drumm (Pacific to S Dunedin). A letter was received from one of the Otago delegates to the New Zealand Council (Air H. W. Franklin) tendering his resignation from _ the, position.—lt was decided to write to Mr Franklin asking him to reconsider his decision. The Waikouaiti Chih wrote asking for the use of the javelin, disens, trestles for high jump, hammer and shot belonging to the Otago Centre for its meeting during Easter.—The matter was left in the hands of the president and Mr R. 0. Johnson, with power to : act. It, was decided lo deposit the sum of i'JoO in the Dunedin Savings Bank. It was decided to hold the Edmond Cup race on June 8. The Port Chalmers and modified marathon races were set down for the first and third week in September respectively, and the interdub race two weeks before the date of the New Zealand cross-country championship. It was also decided that all competitors desiring to complete in the Port Chalmers race must be over eighteen years of age on the day of the race. Accounts amounting to £GO 11s 9d were passed for payment, A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the president (Mr E. L. Macassey) for his efforts connected with the visit of the Otago team to the New Zealand championships. It wns decided to extend the closing date of the art union to Alav 1. A letter was received from the- New Zealand Council asking if the Otago Centre was prepared to change its colours.— It was decided to retain the present colours. Forrest.—lt was decided to lorward a iavourablc recommendation concerning the applicants to the New Zealand Council. It was decided to gram the St. John Ambulance Brigade- 'the sum of £3 3s for_ services rendered. The secretary was instructed to write the Canterbury Centro expressing thanks tor the manner in which the members of the Otago team were entertained while in Christchurch. •I ho following have been awarded special prizes:—Dewar Cun (cycling), d. PATRICK'S CLUB Tim animal general meeting of tho St. Patrick s .Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club was held in St. Patrick s" School on Monday evening, a large attendance of members being present. Mr Hawke occupied the chair. The adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet was moved by Mr L. Marlow ami seconded by Mr W. ('. M.'Donnell. both ol whom congratulated the dub on its successful year, and urged 11n*_ members to remedy any faults during 1929. The balance-sheet showed that the club bad a small credit balance, this being very satisfactory, considering that some debts incurred by the old club were paid. The report stated, inter alia, that the linaneial active membership had doubled during the year, and that competition m the various events was very keen. In open events Mr H. H. R. Baughen carried the club colours to gain third place in the Port Chal-mors-Dunedin road race, while Mr J. IV, Geddes tilled a similar position in tlie modili->l Marathon. The attendance at runs was satisfactory, six members gaining badges for attending (‘very inn. During the year a new set of rules was drawn up, and the chib is greatly indebted to Mr N. Air Berry had presented a cup to the club, the terms of competition to be arranged later. Air H. W. Af‘Donnell mentioned the Christian Brothers High School sports, appealing to members to give as much support as possible to the Brothers in running them; iT/ was decided that the club endeavour ti make a donation to the C.B.H.S. sports prize fund. _ • The opening run of the season will be held from the residence of the president, Air L. Marlow, Bay View road, on April 6, at 3. CAVERSHAM CLUB The twenty-fourth annual meeting of the Caversham Hander and Amateur Athletic Club was held in the
Y.Af.C.A. rooms last evening. Air J. AI. Brown occupied the chair. The annual report stated that the membership was once again on the increase, During the season twenty-one runs were held, with an average attendance of forty members.- The No. 1 team was again successful in winning the Edmond Cup, while the No. 2 team finished well up. Success also attended the first team entered for the Otago cross-country championship, while the second team finished in sixth place. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balancesheet congratulated the club upon the excellent report which bad been presented by the secretary. He said that this report was the best he had ever had the privilege to read. Ho had to bring before the notice of members Air T. K. Sido.v s resignation from the position of president, which he has held since the club’s inception in 19U5. It was with the deepest regret that he did so, as in Air Sidey the club find a president who took the greatest interest in the club’s activities. The annua! report ami balancesheet were adopted.
