ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
POISONED. The inquest on the body ol ('la ode Hector Olson, teacher, ot the Carterton School, who was found dead in the science room on March 9, was reopened yesterday afternoon before Air J. Miller, S.AL, coroner. After hearing evidence a verdict was returned that the deceased met his death by accidental poisoning through mistaking a glass containing poison lor water. George Rickard, aged torty-soven, married, a baker and confectioner, of Wellington, committed suicide by_ taking poison while on a visit to friends at Grona Downs (Foxton )yesterday morning. At the inquest the coroner returned a verdict of suicide while in a state of depression.—Press Association.
AVINGATUI TRAINER INJURUD. Jack Cotter, aged thirty, a Wingatni trainer, was admitted to the Southland Hospital yesterday suffering from a broken thigh. It appears that lie was riding a horse out to the Invercargill racecourse when the animal stumbled, unseating Cotter. STOCK BUYER’S DEATH. A Gisborne message states that John Foster, aged forty-tour, a stock buyer, was found dead at Mata where. _ He appeared yesterday to be in robust health. FRACTURED THIGH. Yesterday Louie Frame, single, aged forty-one, lell down some stairs and fractured her thigh. She was removed to the liospit.nl.
