WATER SPEED CONTEST
FINAL OF CHALLENGE RACE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK. March 21. 'News from Miami Beach states that Miss America the Seventh in entering the final heat to-day of tbo Challenge Race, negotiated alt six laps far ahead of Major Segrave, averaging approximately sixty miles an hour. Major Segrave entered to-day with Miss England, damaged in eighteen places from yesterday’s race. He therefore made no attempt to do more than go quietly over the course, and .developed leaks while doing that. However, on the point system of scoring, Major Segravo yesterday made 2 points for finishing, while Car Wood was unable to finish, and score,d nothing. To-day Wood won the race, scoring 2 points, but Major Segrave finished the course without attempting to race Wood, and made 1 point, bringing his total to 3 to Wood’s 2 for the entire race.
Major Segrave averaged a little over forty-two miles an hour to-day, barely creeping in the final lap, tor Miss England was leaking throughout thei race. —Australian Tress Association. 1
