PEARLING AT BROOME
REVIVAL OF INDUSTRY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PERTH, December 27. The pearling industry at Broome shows u revival compared with last vear. One hundred luggers were licensed during the year, and the amount of shell raised was b2O tons, worth, at £IBO a ton, £147,600. Most of the shell was shipped to New York. One pearl was sold for £IO,OOO. The number of divers employed was 16S. most of thorn being Japanese. Eight of them perished during the year iu the course of diving operations.
