GAS THROUGH HOSE
OUTRAGE AT GOOGEE ATTEMPT TO POISON GIRL. Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. SYDNEY, |)ecer.iber 27. A remarkable crime was reported by the detectives to-day;. It was perpetrated in a cottage in Arcadia street, Coogee, which was occupied by Morris Levy, an insurance agent, and his wife and grown-up daughter. Somebody attached the garden hose to a gas meter, then placed tho other end through a window where Miss Levy was sleeping. The fumes spread through the home and awakened Mr Levy about 3 a.m. He hurriedly opened every window without striking a match, and called to his daughter, who was unharmed. The hose was not Levy’s property. A man’s footprint was discovered near the daughter’s window. Levy declares that he has not a solitary enemy, and his daughter knows no reason why anyone should desire to take her life.
