MANCHESTER UNITY
The annual summoned meeting of the Loval Prince of Wales Lodge. M. drew a. large attendance of members. The N.G., Pro. R. hijack was in the chair. The election of officers resulted in the following being duly installed: —N.G., Bro. 1,. Jack; V.G., Pro. E. C. Brown; G.M.. Bro. R. S. Jack; warden. Bro. J. O’Neil; guardian, Bro. J. A. Chirk. P.G Bro. J Fitzgerald was appointed a trustee in place of P.P.G.M, Bio A. Cable (resigned). The N.G. and Bros, ( rawford and Johnston reported attending (he anniversary celebration of the founding of the order in Otauo. the function taking the lonn ol a veterans evening. It was decided that a meeting of veteran members ol .he Prince oMVales Lodge be held some time during the coining yean Three propositions for membership weie submitted during the meeting The last meeting foi the year ol Loyal Roxburgh Lodge was largely attended, and proved one ot the- most enthusiastic held in the lodgeroom lor some time. The younger brethren were present in, force, and the senior past officers were represented by (hose stalwarts of the..lodge who °an ever be depended upon, and who loi over a score of years (some longer) have taken a deep interest in lodge all airs. The installation was carried out in a very impressive manner, tnr semoi P.O.’s acting as- spon-or l - to ’.he new officers, * introducing them in appropriate speeches. The various officers suitably responded. The treasurer (P.G.'F. Laloli) thanked the lodge for the compliment paid io hi? lanuly in electing as N.G. his son. who (lie remarked) represented the third generation in the lodge. .He delivered an eloquent speech on the Iral.eroal side of Oddfcllowship, stres-ing the necessity of regularly attending meet mgs. where young and old iratormsed together as brothers. He was supported by P.G.’.s Michelle and Waigth. '"ho congratulated the yonngei members on their enthusiasm. The latter thanked them for the splendid effort made in connection with the 1,000 members campaign, the lodge having initiated twelve new members, the quota assigned to it by (be t’ampaign t oinniittee. Two candidates were iniated during the evening. In pre-enting P.G. Bro. H. Gilchrist with a P.G/s emblem, the N.G. referred to the dee]) interest taken by the recipient in lodge matters. P.G. BrO. Michelle explajned to the younger members the meaning of the various symbols contained in the t'inhiem. after which Bro. Gilchrist replied. Refreshments were then dispensed, and the giving of three cheers by the younger brethren for the senior members closed what proved to be one of the best meetings the Loyal Roxburgh Lodge has enjoyed for some time The annual summoned meeting of the Loyal Tapanui Lodge was held on Friday evening, when the N.G.. Bro. J. Robertsont presided over a good attendance. A large amount of correspondence was received and dealt with, and three new members were initiated. The secretary reported that, twenty-nine new members have this year joined the lodge. PG ’s Bros. Duncan At‘Coll and Peter Thomson reported on their recent visit to the Hand and Heart Lodge, Dunedin, to at lend the eightieth anniversary o! the order. The following officers were elected and installed for the next six months :—N.G.. Bro. \V. Lisehner ; V.G.. Bro. A. J. Potts; G.M.. Bin J. F. Robertson: E.S. Bro. R Kirk; warden, Bro.’ E. Howat ; guardian. Bro. R. Muuyard. It was decided to ask the district officers to visit the lodge and confer the past officers’ degrees. Before adjourning until January 24 the N.G. extended season’s greetings to members. The summoned meeting ol the Loyal Dnnbnek Lodge was well attended by members, the N.G.. Bro. Purvis, being in the chair. Correspondence included fraternal greetings from the Hand and Heart Lodge (Dunedin) and P.P.G.M. Bro. Lawry. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term: — N. Bro. P. Roberts: V.G., G. Leach; G.M.. Bro. Purvis; E)S.. F. Cheyne; warden. F. Routclle; guardian. E. Kelly; R.S. to N.G.. Bro. G. Glover; L. 5.,. Bro. It. Farquhar.son ; R.S. to V.G;. Bro. F. Campbell: L.S., Bro. A. Fra ter. Bros. A. Purvis and P. Roberts were, appointed auditors. One new member was initiated.
