{Special to thb 'Stab.’] AUCKLAND, December 27. Imprint was the only withdrawal from the Auckland Trotting Cup, leaving the good field of fourteen to contest the event. It was a solid betting race, with Prince Pointer carrying more than Gold Jacket, Kohara, and Queen’s Own. Machine Gun and Talaro went off badly, and on coming round to the stand the first time, Padlock was ‘ leading Queen’s Own, with Gold Jacket, Cardinal Logan, Terence Dillon, Kohara, Prince Pointer, Jewel Pointer, Machine Gun, Peter Bingen, Peterwah, Talaro, Great Bingen, and Jack Potts. Coming along the back the field were all bunched, hut Padlock had a lead of a length from Queen’s Own, and then came Kohara, Terence Dillon, Gold Jacket, Cardinal Logan. Peter Bingen, and Prince Pointer, while Peterwab broke, Passing the stand again, Padlock was still in front, with Queen’s Own and Kohara together. Gold Jacket was next, and then came Cardinal Logan and Terence Dillon together. Prince Pointer was close in behind, followed by Peter Bingen, Jewel Pointer, Machine Gun, Talaro, Great Bingen, Jack Potts, and Peterwah. Around the back-again Padlock still had command. Koban waj close in behind, and then came Queen’s Own, Gold Jacket, Car-
dinal liOgan, Terence Dillon, Prince Pointer, Jewel Pointer, and Machine Gun. Across ihe dop Kohara wont up alongside Padlock* mu] then in behind were Queen’s Own and Gold Jacket together Cardinal Logan was next, and the rest of the field was strung out Kohara led into the straight from Cold Jacket, Padlock, Queen’s Own, and Prince Pointer, and in a great finuli Gold Jacket hung on to boat Kohara by a short head, with Prince Pointer two and a-lmlf lengths away, third, and Queen’s Own three-quarters of a length away, fourth. All the acceptors went to the post in the Rowe Trotting Cup, which was a solid betting race, with the bracket, Young Blake and Elzear, made :avoniite, the next fancied being Tiger Salve and Sister Beatrice. Young Blake went away at a gallop when they were let go, and Rose Bingen broke early n the race, Napland was in front passing the stand the first time from 'Jigor Salve, Kempton, Betty Moko, Ngatira, Tradesman, and Sister Beatrice. When they came around the second time the order was Tiger Salvo, Kempton, Napland, Sister Beatrice, Ngatira, Betty Moko, and Trampfast, with the rest well* back. Along the back Sister Beatrice moved up into third position and Peterwah, who had made, up a lot of ground, broke at this stage and dropped back. Kempton ttill hekUpmmand across the lop, attended by liger Salve, Sister Beatrice, and nimpfast. He turned for homo six lengths clear of Sister Beatrice, and trotting in solid style had no difficulty in winning o-’ two lengths from Ngatira, who came in fast over the last part and got second money, with Elzear half a length away in third place. Trampfast ms fourth, a head further buck, Peterwah was fifth, and then came Napland, Tradesman, and Sister Beatrice, who broke badly about 100yds from the post.
