CUP TO GOLD JACKET For the opening day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s Summer Meeting the weather was cold and showery, but it cleared later. The track was slow after the rain. Machine Gun, Jewel Pointer, and Talaro broke at the start. When the field settled down Padlock was leading, with Queen’s Own and Kohara handy. These horses led to the straight, where Gold Jacket fought out a line finish, beating Kohara by a short head.
