SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT
THE KING’S CONDITION ANXIETY STILL PERSISTS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 26. (Received December 27, at 9.45 a.m.) After a consultation with his colleagues, Lord Dawson indicated in a statement to journalists that tho King was slightly improved. Lord Dawson said; “There is a slight improvement in both the local and general condition, it being a part of a slow forward movement.” Sir Stanley Hewitt and Sir Hugh Rigby participated in tho consultation. A moderate crowd gathered before tho Palace despite tho heavy rain. There was little doubt expressed, howover, that tho King’s condition is still serious. Tho anxiety of tho Palace staff could readily bo seen beneath the attempt to bo happy over tho holidays. Tho King has been alternating between states of consciousness and coma, and tho servants recently saw the Duke of York in tears outside the sick room after his father was unable to recognise him.—Australian Press Association. CANADA’S SYMPATHY THE. QUEEN’S REPLY. Press Association—By Telegr iph—Copyright The Queen, replying to Mr Mackenzie King’s message of sympathy on behalf of Canada, said: “Tho message of greetings will bo highly appreciated and valued by His Majesty when his progress towards recovery is sufficiently advanced for him to receive it personally. Tho expressions of tho lovo and devotion of tho Canadian people, the knowledge of their prayers, their sympathetic solicitude during the past anxious weeks, and their messages which note their joy and thankfulness to God for the King’s hopeful condition touch mo profoundly on this Christmas morning. My children and I thank you from our hearts. I look forward to tho day when tho King will bo cheered and strengthened by this testimony—that tho heart of Canada is with him in weal and woe.”—Australian Press Association-United Service.
