REBELS LOSE GROUND DRIVEN FROM KABUL SUBURBS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, December 24. The Moscow correspondent of the ‘ Daily News 1 says that lung Amanullah’s mother escaped from Kabul by an aeroplane, flying to Kandahar to rally the southern tribes, with whom she is popular. King Amanullah s wireless is working again, and reports that the position in IDibul has improved, the rebels being forced to evacuate Bagabala, a fortified hill dominating the city, which they held for a week, despite bombing by an aeroplane and an artillery bombardment. The rebels’ main forces were also driven from the suburbs. The Government troops are still holding out in Jalalabad, and the Mohmands are moving to their relief. British aeroplanes are' again flying over Kabul, dropping warnings that King Amanullah has at Kabul 11,000 regulars and ten batteries, with over 4,000 troops and sis batteries in Jnlsdabad.—-Australian Press Association.
WOMEN AND CHILDREN EVACUATED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. DELHI, December 25. (Received December 26, at L3O a.m.) A large troop carrier and twenty Air Force planes ilew from Peshawar and Risalpor to Kabul during the week-end and rescued the British women and children from the British Legation, and a further twenty-five from the French and German legations. Radio communications between Peshawar and Kabul was restored yesterday. It is learned that King. Amanullah is still at Kabul, but the Queen and his mother have gone to Kandahar with the' Court officials.— Australian Press Association,
