THE CHILDREN’S CORNER, OVAL.

TO TEE EDITOR. Sir,—Somo five weeks ago I took au opportunity of addressing a respects ful letter to the city town clerk on the subject of the neglected state of the (so-called) children’s corner at the Kensington end of the Oval. Up to the present I have not received any acknowledgment of the letter, nor has anything been done so far as I can see. • In the first place, no more unsuitable sit© could have been chosen. It is an acknowledged dangerous corner, and its proxijnity to the hotel dees not tend to make it edifying for youngsters, although I have not the slightest intention or desire to reflect on the licensee. The “ swings ’’ for months past have been devoid of ropes—in many instances the sand pit is made the dumping ground for the tramways and gas and electric light workmen’s trucks and tar barrels. Taken altogether, the playground is a disgrace to the council. The Christmas holidays are commencing or have begun, and the children are left to find amusement in any and every and all dangerous ways they can. Probably my letter to the town clerk is being handed from inspector to subinspector, and foreman to ganger for report, and by the time it reaches the Town Hall cat it may bear fruit.—-I am, etc., Guosvbnor. Kensington, December 21.
