DEPLETED MEMBERSHIP Press Association-By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 20. (Received December 21, at 1 a.m.) The British trade unions and the Trade Union Federation continue to lose a large number. For the sixth time in the past seven yearn a decline has been recorded. For the first time since 1916 the total has fallen below tlio 5,000,000 membership. At tho end of 1927 it was 4,908,000, a reduction of 299,000 compared with 1926. The largest decreases were in the mining and quarrying unions, which lost 107.000. Tho railway services lost 79,000, and the metal groups 38,000. —United Service.
