MONTHLY - MhETJNu. Tho monthly meeting of the directors of tho Y.W.C.A. was held last week, Mrs Taverner (president) was in tho chair. lb was agreed to send a congratulatory letter io Mr Taverner (member of tho Advisory Board) on his election to Parliament and subsequent attainment to Cabinet rank. Correspondence included letters from Mr;; Waldo grave (world’s president) and from Lhp. national otllco. Reports of meetings of other organi. satious visited by YAV.O.A. representatives were submitted. Tho monthly departmental reports were approved. Tho senior clubs reported on their break-up party, on which occasion a farewell presentation was made to Bliss Batt. A children’s party, given by combined clubs, was a great success. Tho results of a jumble sale were most satisfactory. “Tho old folks’ treat’’ at the Benevolent Institution will ho held on Saturday next. Tho girls’ work department reported having hold its closing sports and community gathering. Tho annual camp .will bo held at Waitati. Six girls aro going to tho Y.W.C.A. Conference at Nga Tawa, near Marton. The health recreation department has now ceased classes for the year, but swimming and lawn tennis still continue. Tho hostel continues to bo very active, but requires more bedroom accommodation. The cafeteria has ceased providing hot midday meals for the last few weeks. Cold lunches, tea, soft drinks, etc., are still, however, obtainable. Tho extension department—viz., tho To Taumata Club at Anderson’s Bay—continues to increase, swimming and tenuis being tho immediate interests. A strong tramping club has been formed. A Christmas treat for tho children of St. Mary’s and the Anglican Boys’ Homo will ho given at tiro Club House; tho funds will bo raised by, club members. Clmlstmas and New Year greetings have been sent to England, Panama, India, China, Honolulu. Los Angelos, Sydney, and tho New Zealand associations.
