PREVENTION OF CRUELTY
MEETING OF SOCIETY’S COMMITTEE A meeting of the committee of the Society for'"the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was licit! yesterday atteinoon, Mr Crosby Morns presiding. A newspaper cutting containing a report of a recent meeting of tho Canterbury Society, at which a motion was passed favouring the abolition of nvc pigeon shooting, was forwarded by Miss Elizabeth Smith, of Christchurch.—lt was decided to advise the Canterbury Society that the committee felt that its attitude would ho of great help to tho movement. A letter from Mr J. A. horhes was received and discussed in committee. — It was resolved that the secretary reply stating that there was no personal feeling against Mr Forbes, though at times members of tho committee had not agreed with suggestions made by him. Tho fact that the committee had always practically supported his efforts iu connection with Animal Wellare Week proved that tho society appreciated his work in this direction. Tho society’s Inspector (Mr J. Craig) reported that he had investigated three cases during the month and had visited numerous places in the district. At tho conclusion of tho meeting tho Chairman extended tho compliments of tho season to tho members of tho committee.
