DUNEDIN GUN CLUB
The 1928 season of the Dunedin Gun Club closed at tho Green Island grounds on Saturday afternoon, when the programme of matches attracted a good attendance of members and friends. The customary prizes were allotted in accordance with tho approaching festive season, and" weather conditions assisted towards enthusiasm and good fellowship. In the first match of twelve clay birds tho first prize was won by 'J'. Callaghan, with H. Smellie second, E. P. Graham third, and W. M‘Breen fourth. Tho second match, also of twelve clay birds, was won by L, E. Wilson, with G. E. Turner second, R. M'Donald third, and W. M'Breen fourth. The final test of twelve day birds was won by T. Long, A. A. Fairbairn being second, W. Morland third, A. J. White fourth, and R. Morrison' fifth. Two special prizes were also allotted to the lowest scorers. A double rise sweepstake of six birds concluded the afternoon, and tbo first prize went to T. Callaghan, with six breaks, G. E. Turner and E. P. Graham dividing second money,’with five breaks each. Tho President (Mr G. E. Turner) spoko briefly, and in thanking the members, officials, and friends for their support during tho season said he looked forward to tho 1929 season bringing renewed success. He was pleased to note that a number of new gun clubs had been formed in Otago during 1928, and lie hoped that other districts would follow suit in tho coming year. Tho medal for tho highest aggregate for the season was won by Mr E. F. Graham, who will hold the Rutherford Cup for the best first barrel performance in programme matches.
