C.J.C. CARNIVAL WEEK
SUGGESTED CHANGE IN PROGRAMME. [SPECUi TO THB ' STAR,'] CHRISTCHURCH, December 13. The question of making some change in the programme of the November Carnival Week in Christchurch is likely to engage the attention of the controlling authorities before next season’s .fixtures is decided upon. _ The opinion widely held in sporting circles is that the present strenuous programme might be curtailed with advantage, and the Canterbury Jockey Club may decide to delete one day’s racing from its four day’s meeting and increase the stakes of the remaining three days. It would then be possible to open the carnival on tho Monday and bring it to a conclusion on the Saturday, thus saving time for visitors from the north and south. The day dropped by the C.J.C. could probably be transferred to the Summer Meeting, and tho two days for that fixture would make it more attractive than at present for outside owners.
