MOTOR BY-LAWS.

TO Tins IDITOR, Sir, —Who is Mr Thomas Euddiman, wlto raises objections to by-laws brought into operation for pedestrian protection and convenience.? Tho effusion above his signature is absurd, yet it manifests only too plainly the attitude of those whoso selfish actions have brought about a tightening of those by-laws which are now evidently bearing fruit in the direction of curtailing tho liberties and abuses of the gentlemen of motordom. Mr llnddiman does not plead ignorance regarding existing motor by-laws, but appears to labour under some strange delusion that as an insurance agent lie should be set above and beyond their reach. Ho lias the audacity to question tho fact of the parking zone existing in Water street, which happens to be bnt a few yards too far from his “cubby hole.” How sad, how thoughtless of tho authorities not to have considered Mr lUiddinmn when framing the by-laws! Ho goes on to complain against the prohibition that denies him tho right to alight before his favoured shop in order to “motor homo the week-end fruit bag.” Ileally it is all very annoying to Mr Euddiman, and I am sure we all sympathise with him. At the same time wo also realise that such a grievance clearly indicates that, like an unpopular school teacher, our inspectors are adequately performing their duty,in which 'they are uphold by those citizens who still depend upon Nature’s locomotion. —I am, etc., December 12. R.M.
