The deck armour wil Ibe 2in and the conning tower 3in thick. The designed horse-power will he 80,000, giving a speed of 31J knots. Additional details of the 10,000-ton Kent class show that they are designed for a speed of only thirty-two knots, though the Australia reached thirtyfour knots at tho end of a long voyage. Another cruiser of this class— namely, the Norfolk—is being launched to-mor-row. She has her shaft horse-power increased to 90,000, giving a trial speed of 32J, instead of 31J knots.
