REYNOLDS-HUDSON KINDERGARTEN
BREAK-UP CEREMONY There was a large gathering ol parents and members of local committees at the break-up ceremony of the Rey-iiolds-lludson Kindergarten, Kaikorai, yesterday morning at iho kindergarten, and an enjoyable time was spent by all who attended. Mrs G. M. MacLean was in the chair, and in introducing the speaker (the Rev. Canon A. C.”H. Button) she thanked the parents and the local committees for their genuine help, and also the teachers, who did as much as possible to assist the, children. The Rev. Canon Button made reference to the excellent work of the Rey-nolds-Hudson kindergartens in the city, and explained how different the methods of teaching were now from the time when ho attended school. The children wore now taught through the medium of play, which mode them always ready to learn. liven the atmosphere of a school nowadays was dilferent from what it used to be, and that, too, helped the children to like their work and take a keen interest in it. If people only understood wnat vahiable work the kindergartens wore doing they would ho willing to help m every way, and lie hoped that the folk in that district would continue to interest themselves in the work. A children’s programme demonstrating the methods of teaching was then given. One of the items showed how a flower seed was sown, how the shoot sprang up, and then how tho hmls hurst into flower. Many carols were snug, ami then the. children demonstrated a number of nursery rhymes.
