AMATEUR CYCLING

MEETING OF OTAGO CLUB A well-attended general meeting of the Otago Amateur Cycling Club was held last evening, when the president (Mr J. A. Johnston) was in the chair. In connection with the recent fixture of the club and the entertainment of Messrs Standen, Gray, and Kaltenbach, accounts incurring a sum of about £l2 were passed for payment. The President stated that a small amount had been lost over the social evening, but the sports meeting had returned a profit of £lO, which under the circumstances was more than satisfactory. Mr Fogarty suggested that one or two races bo held on Saturday evening next. Mr Ockwell moved that this suggestion be carried out, tho motion being seconded by J. Simon and carried. It was decided that one and three-mile (A and B grade) be the races for the occasion. Although, a collection would be taken, Mr Ockwell stated that the fixture was not to be looked upon as a meeting, but races for the benefit of club members. A proposal by Mr Ockwell that a tenmilo track race bo held on March 14, and to be a club championship, was decided upon. The secretary was instructed to write to tho Caledonian Society for extra tables for training purposes; also to the Maxwell family, thanking them lor their valuable services to the club. Mr Garsidc was elected a member of the executive.
