AMERICAN PRESIDENCY
CANDIDATES AND PROHIBITION WASHINGTON, February 29. Thirty-one national “dry” organisations in conference to-day adopted a resolution demanding that the Republican and Democratic Parties at the coming national conventions shall choose Presidential candidates definitely and clearly committed to the enforcement of the eighteenth amendment and necessary supporting legislation thereto, and the inclusion in their platforms of a policy of similar character. The references to candidates are viewed as a warning to the Democrats against the nomination of Mr Smith, the Governor of New York. One speaker took occasion to launch an open attack upon that gentleman.
