THEFT OF POSTAL PACKETS
FORMER MAIL EMPLOYEE'S LAPSE

MARION, February 29. Ernest Nelson Butler, married, with five children, a former postal employee, pleaded guilty to the theft of a postal packet containing cheques to the value of £7. and also a£o note. He was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence. The accused stole the packet in November, and on the second day of the Manawatu races cashed one cheque in a Chinaman’s shop in Palmerston North. The Chinaman formerly resided in Marton, and thus identified the accused.
