(Received February 29, at 8.35 a.m.) The ‘ Daily Mail’s ’ Romo correspondent says that, following a series of strenuous operations, Italian colonial troops extended the occupation of Cyrenaica (North Africa) to tho edge of the Libyan Desert, and permanently garrisoned two places controlling caravan routes. Well-armed Arabs defended Tagrift to tho last gasp, and elsewhere 1,000 horsemen resisted the Italians for several hours, leaving 300 dead. The total number killed was 500. Many prisoners were taken and much booty captured. The Italians lost 210 killed and wounded.—Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
