FANCY DRESS MASQUERADE
Over 500 patrons ol dancing partiei paled in the- carnival al the Early Settlers’ Hall last night, the many fancy cosl nines making a brilliant show. Air George AVallace on his arrival from the theatre at 11 p.m. was greeted with ringing cheers. The little comedian, who wax accompanied by Miss Marie Nyman, had difficulty in crossing the floor, so enthusiastic were those present. Mr Ellison attended to the catcring, while Arthur Gordon’s Dance Band provided the music. The Mini of £0 will he handed to the Salvation Army and £3 to the Soccer Grandstand Fund. The fancy dres* winners, who wore judged by Air George AVallace. were :
Ladies’ best costume; “Eastern Princess.” Miss Doris Cocks (Hyde street. Gore).
Men’s hext eoctuinc; “ Alephi.stepholcs,” Mr C. C. Smith (Main South road. Dunedin)

Ladies’ consolation: “ Moonlight mid Kn?es," Mise West. Men's consolat ion :. “Otago Daily Times,” Mr Dmve (Queen's drive, Dunedin').
Lucky spot prizes: Misses Atkinson, Cooney, mid Berkeley. Mr Dalzioll. The promoters were the Wellington Merrymakers.
