SALE OF A COW
QUESTION OF GUARANTEE

STRATFORD, February 28
Mr Tate, S.M., yesterday gave judgment in a case in which a claim was made for alleged Joss arising from the purchase of a cow, which was guaranteed sound and which turned out on calving to be unsound. The Magistrate uon-euited the plaintiff. An auctioneer gave a warranty in the form of the letters “ G. 5..” meaning that it was guaranteed sound.
For the plaintiff it was held that this meant guaranteed sound at calving, but the magistrate said that it meant only guaranteed at the time of the sale. Ho said that if farmers desired a warranty of soundness at calving they must demand a guarantee in specific terms to that effort
