CLEN ROAD.
10 THE EDITOU. Sir,—Some eight or nine month ago a slip occurred in the Glen road, covering the footpath lor a distance ol about JoTt, and almost out to the gutter. When several things are known concerning this particular section it is not a very hard problem to discover the reason why it has been allowed to remain there tor such a length ol time. It was very amusing a short time bnck to see that the blackberry weed which was growing on the slip had been cut short, giving [icdestrians a lew inches of the footpath to use, and saving the children from getting their faces scratched, or tho ladies from having their light summer clothes torn. Tho engineer in charge ol this part ot the district lias seen'the large amount of clay lying there while going around inspecting the roads and paths, not forgetting' tho overgrown hedges.. 1 know of one section owner whose hedge laid overgrown only nine inches over the footpath and ho was ordered to have it cut back; but with this slip it seems that such an order wouhl he useless. Surely someone in authority has sufficient courage to have this menace dealt with; if not, then the police department should lie informed of the obstruction and have the nuisance removed. Will those few lines awaken any of our city councillors to their sense of duty and let the owner of this property know that it is not permissible to cause such an obstruction on a public thoroughfare? In the meantime, sir, wo shall Wait and Sf.k. February 27.
