DROWNED. Melvin Lover*lge, agid forty, th« driver of a bullock team at Huia dam construction, was drowned while bathing in a pool on Saturday evening. He was bathing with friends at tip, end of the tunnel farthest from tno dam at dusk in a pool over 6ft deep. When the body was recovered artificial respiration failed to restore life.—Auckland message. FATAL FALL. A nine-year-old boy named William Rose, who resided at No. 140 Great North road, Auckland, fell from the back of a motor lorry early on Saturday evening. Ho received severe head injuries through striking the concrete, and was admited to the Auckland Hospital in an unconscious condition and died larer.
