DEVELOPMENT OF WIRELESS

IMPORTANCE STRESSED LONDON, February 24. It is most important that beam wireless should be developed to the utmost event in the interest of cheap and rapid communications, says the Federation of British Industries in a letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Postmaster-General in connection with the Wireless and Cables Conference, but the federation fears that the conference may result in a policy of hampering the development or wireless or preventing the reduction of tho wireless rates.

The federation trusts that the Government will give an assurance that nothing will be done to hamper the freest and fullest development of wireless, and adds that, as important users of wireless and cables, as well as taxpayers, the federation strongly urges the Government to entrust to commercial hands the Government-operated systems. It would wipe out the deficit and improve (lie service.—A. and N.Z. and •‘Sun’ Cable.
