BRIGHTON AFFAIRS
A.i tbe mealin'; of Uio Taieri County Council yesterday quite a number of matters concerning Brighton were dealt with. Letters held over from lust meeting, Cr M'lnto.sh being absent, were dealt 1 with as follows:—(1) Letter, Adams Bros., regarding Hobbs’s property, subdivision Brighton; (2) M. Stevenson, regarding further gravelling, Green Jsland-Taieri Mouth road.—lt was resolved— (1) Street in question (Morse street) is not recognised as a public street, writers to be notified accordingly; (2) matter held over till reply was received from the Highways Board regarding the county’s application that the road be made a ‘‘secondary” one. L. Aslin made a suggestion relative to dealing with loitering at Boat Harbor bridge, Brighton.—lt was resolved that the inspector report on cost of a footbridge at. the next meeting, and that fence on road near the bridge - be removed back to correct line. V/. Coutts wrote regarding the boatsheds at Brighton, etc. He had purchased Mr D. MTvenzie’s boats and business, and he intended to remove all the buildings that were now oh the road that had belonged to Mr M‘Kenzie. He asked the council ,to improve the entrance by filling up as far hack as the road went.—lt was resolved to do some filling as required. The Secretary, Brighton Advancement Society, wrote regarding the extending of footpath from the big rock to Baird’s and Bush’s Bridge.—Reply to be sent that no funds were available. Nelson M'Coll wrote regarding creamery road at Brighton.—Resolved that attention be given to road before the winter.
