MEETING AT TRENTHAM YESTERDAY’S RESULTS [Pek United Press Association.] TRENTHAM, February 21. Marksmen have now had “pipe” openers, and are settling down to keen competition. The weather conditions to-day have been changeable. After heavy rain there was a thick mist on the hills at the completion of the morning shoot, but tho afternoon events are being fought out under excellent conditions. A slight southerly wind blew across the range, but did not interfere with the elevation. The opening match, which docs not count f r the belt, was got off. and resulted in A. Powell, of Akarana, securing first prize with a score of 101. His card read 34, 34, 33. Barlow, of Linton, who was second in the A grade, finished with 100, as did Wilesmith (Australia). Johnson (Featherston) headed the B grade with 100, Braithwaito (Napier) being runner-up with a similar total. The tyros’ prize was won by Elgar (Mawera) with 93. The Dominion Match was completed, the winner being H. I!. Hunt, of the Suburbs Club, with an aggregate score of 120. The Marlborough Match, which is tl)e first of the belt series in progress on the range, is being fired. The only possible made in tho Dominion Match at 900yds was by P. R. Goldfinch (Old Navals). When the first range of the Marlborough Match was nearing completion there was a light rain, and tho wind had veered to the front. The shooting continued to bo good, although no possibles were recorded. This match will be concluded on Saturday, as will the Auckland Match at 300yds and 600yds, ten shots at each distance, and the Canterbury Match, 600yds, ten shots. Potter (Dunedin), 48, made the best Mure in the Marlborough Match at tho Giort range.
