DETONATOR DANGER

CAMPAIGN TO WARN CHILDREN [Pbb United Pbess Association.] WELLINGTON, February 25. Many recent accidents to school children through the explosion of detonators have been given attention by the explosives branch of the Department of Internal Affairs, which has decided, in conjunction with the Education Department, to start a campaign warning children against the danger of playing with detonators. Unused detonators _ arc often left lying near contract jobs, and, being bright in color, are atractive to children, who find that they fit very easily on the end of a leadpencil. The detonators will explode without warning when put near a fire, knocked, or struck, or when the composition (the explosive) is pricked with a pin, a nail, or a pencil. Warning placards are being prepared for distribution.
