HORTH OTAGO MATCH CENTURY TO ZIMMERMAN Tho weather was overcast and threatening when play in tho match between Australia and North Otago was resumed yesterday. No rain foil, and the wicket'and outfield were in good condition. The Australians forced the pace, carrying their total to 448 before tho last wicket fell. Oxenham gave a solid display for his 169. Kippax played nn outstanding innings for 76. North Otago gave a vastly improved showing in its second innings, scoring 268 for six wickets. Zimmerman gave a dashing display for 117 not out, his total including sixteen 4’s and live 6 s. Tho match was drawn. Kippax and Oxenham resumed to the bowling of Imler and Carrington. Kippax forced the pace, and 300 soon appeared on the board. Kippax skied one to Robertson, who failed to hold the catch, and in the following over he gave another chance in the slips to Carrington off Indcr. which was accepted. Kippax played a sterling innings for 76, and until the -over before his dismissal gave no semblance of a chance. Woodfull joined Oxenham, both scoring freely, and 330 showed on the board after half an hour’s play. Zimmerman took over from Carrington and with his fifth ball clean bowled Woodfull. Richardson joined Oxenham, who had another life, returning one lo Imler, who failed to hold it. At 350 Hargreaves took over from Inder, Richardson registering 18 from tho over, including a 0 over the leg boundary. When 380 appeared Richardson played back to Hargreaves and hit bis wicket, after breezy cricket for 27, Grimmett filled tho breach, but did not stay long, placing one into Robertson’s hands when he had scored 9. Morton joined Oxenham, and the bowling was treated with scant respect, but Oxenham was again missed in the slips by M'Donald when his total was 160. In the next over Oxenham’s innings came to a close through the batsman returning one to Imler. which was accepted. Oxenham scored 169 in three hours and seven minutes, his innings from 50 being bright and entertaining. M'Nameo was the last man, and after scoring a brace skied one to Sumpter, and the end came at 448. With about 20min left for play before lunch, North Otago commenced its second innings, Sumpter and Uttley opening to the howling of Morton and M'Naraee. Runs came slowly, and at tbo luncheon adjournment 8 runs bad been scored. On resuming Ponsford and Kippax took the leather, and the rate of scoring increased, Sumpter driving the latter for 6, and another 4 brought 60 up. Ponsford was relieved by Schneider, and Sumpter lifted the lastnamed for another 6, and a further 6 brought him bis half-century. Two balls later he was dismissed by placing a 1 ot one into Blackio’s hands. Sumpter’s 56 included three G’s and seven 4’s-

Kippax took the ball from Alexander, Robertson hitting a full toss to the boundary. Zimmerman brought the spectators to their feet hy scoring two 6's, a 4, a brace, and a single off Schneider and reaching his century in 46min, the board showing 252. Zimmerman made a century against Southland, and to-day’s performance gives him his second century in two representative matches this season.
