A CATTLE FRAUD. Allred F. Robertson was charged with, on September -0 ot last year, obtaining bv Iraud from Agnes Diitlue, at Waihula/two cows, one steer, and one calf, valued at £l-. Mr Hanlon then asked for an order against accused in respect to the support of his wife and children. Tho arrears under the maintenance order were said to bo £54. Accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, tho warrant to he suspended so long as ho paid £ls 10s forthwith, £2 a. week off the order, and '2s Gd a week on account of the arrears. PROHIBITION ORDER BROKEN. Samuel George Uohcroft pleaded not guilty to a charge of procuring liquor on February 15 during the currency of a prohibition order. Tho evidence of a constable was that ho was called to the house by the wife, and found Hobcrol't staggering about, with a strong smell of liquor on him. Hobcrol't, who strongly denied that he had had any liquor, said it was all the result of a family squabble. “They put a test on me by asking me to stand on one leg, and it takes mo all my time to stand on two; I’m a cripple,” declared Uohcroft. who asked why, if he wore drunk, he was not arrested? His Worship said the constable’s evidence satisfied him Hobcroft had liquor. Defendant would be ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within three months. THREATENING BEHAVIOUR. Eric Sandman, who did not appear', was fined 20s for using threatening behaviour in a public place, the police stating that accused, a, seafaring man, sailed this morning after being let out on bail for that amount. NOXIOUS WEEDS ,\CT. For failing to clear gor.se from his property at Kaikorai, James F. M’Lachlau was fined 40s and costs, the inspector stating that notices had been disregarded for three years. . MOTOR CASES. Charles Joseph 1 Robertson Macnee was charged with riding a motor cycle without a silencer. It was stated that defendant had admitted tho offence, which, had been committed unknowingly.
