A FALSE CALL [Pee United Press Association.} CHRISTCHURCH, February 23. That it is an offence to wilfully make a false statement over the tf,r phono to the detriment of another person was impressed on two defendants in the Magistrate’s Court, when Winifred PhiTomena Lawrence and Reginald Thomas Oliff wore convicted and discharged, Oiiff being fined 10s on a charge of making a bogus call to Abraham John Hook, a carrier, that he was required to go out for a job. Oliff is a rival carrier.
