Tin; directors of the National Building Society, in their second annual report, si nto that two groups (Nos. 26 and 27) have now been successfully established, and the third group (No.28) is in process of The total ballots for the two years in the two groups amount to £34,700, in which thirty-seven members have participated. First mortgage loans on the repayment principle have been negotiated for £20,080 on behalf of fortyone members. This makes total loans granted by the society during the two years £553580, by which means seventyeight members have been enabled to linance the purchase of their homes or, business premises on a system of easy repayments. From the balance-sheet it will bo seen that the “foundation charges” have been written down by_ 10 per cent., and after making provision fop interest and bonus to shareholders the directors have passed to reserve the sum of £179 Is Bd. At the monthly meeting of the Now Zealand Dairy Produce Board to-day the secretary reported that it was hoped finally to close the second butter pool and the cheese pool during March. The following further payments were available:— Second butler pool, approximately £50,000, equal fo .RHcl per lb, bringing the final payment io: Finest, Js 3.427 d; first, Is 2.027(1 ; second, is 1.927 d, f.0.b., out of which the factories have paid the levy. Choc,so pool, approximately £70,000, equal to ,108 d per lb, bringing the final payout on an 1.0. b. basis to: Finest, 7.810ci; first, 7.5990, and second, 7.349 d on net weights, allowing for 2.75 per cent, shrinkage, out of which the factories have paid the levy.
