RIFLE SHOOTING
TRENTHAM MEETING [Per United Press Association.] TRENTHAM, February 22. Tronthani to-day is beginning to assume a businesslike appearance with the advent of a large number of competitors to take part in the New Zealand. “ Bisley ” meeting. Additional interest is lent to the occasion by the presence of a strong contingent of Australians, New South Wales and Victoria being represented. These, with the profitable practice gained at the Papawai meeting, are expected to make the pace hot for the local men at this gathering. The entries are not complete, but are expected to exceed last year’s total, which was 343. Among those on the range already are some old stagers, such as Fraser, of Kaita.ngata, and “ Carbine ” Jimmy Ross, and the following former King’s Prize winners:—Duncan, James Masefield, R. J. King, Croxton, E. E. Vennell, Simmonds, Caldwell, and Roots. To-morrow will be devoted to service matches and the Dominion Match. The weather is ideal, there being a clear atmosphere, and an absence of wind.
