The Lawn Tennis Association lias provisionally arranged the England v, Australia match for June 15 and 16, and the women’s matches at Bournemouth on June 8 and 9. FRANCE V. AUSTRALIA Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 22. In the second series of tests concluded in hue weather and on fast courts France won by 6 rubbers to 3. The third series is to be played in Melbourne. To-day’s matches resulted: —Crawford defeated Bmgnon, 8-6, 6-4. In the first set the Australian was behind 5-2 and playing badly, but ho recovered splendidly, volleying well, his serving was fine. The long set tired Brugnon more than Crawford, who, except for a brief’space, played a brilliant all-round game, it was Crawford’s best display during the carnival. . Borotra defeated Patterson,_ 6-1, 6-2. The visitor was the more active, making remarkable recoveries in the first set. Patterson was in good form, but faded away. His serving was fairly good, but lie was weak in other phases of play. Borotra was right at the top of his form. His success made France 5 rubbers to 3. ensuring victory in the tests. Borotra and Brugnon defeated Patterson and Hopman, 8-G, 5-7, 6-2. The winners showed the hotter combination, otherwise there was little difference in the play. Patterson displayed much improvement on his previous efforts, and Hopman returned finely. Brugnon was the belter of tbc Frenchmen. The contest prodded some brilliant play.
