BRITISH RUBBER TRADE
THE RESTRICTION SCHEME NO CHANGE FOR SOM.E MONTHS. (British Official News.) Press Association —By Wireless —Copyngrrc. RUGBY, February 20. The Prime Minister was asked in the House of Commons whether he had received from the Rubber Trade Association a communication with regard to allowing the present rubber restriction scheme to remain in force until October 31, and whether he was able to give an assurance to that effect. Ho replied that, in accordance with the notice issued by the Colonial Office of February 1, no change could be made in tho .scheme tor three months from that date. When the Government took its decision on the report of the committee which was. inquiring into the matter it would pay full regard to all the British interests involved. Replying to supplementary questions. Mr Baldwin said he could not tell when the committee would bo able to report in any matter of this kiud. Unfortunately there must be ij certain amount of uncertainty. He would, however, expedite the report. Sir Austen Chamberlain was asked whether any communications had passed between the British and the United States Governments within the past two months on tho subject of the rubber restriction scheme. He replied in the negative.
