MAMILIOUS FOR LONDON. A IMJLL SHIP. At daylight this morning the oversea steamer Mamilious, fully loaded, sailed from Port Chalmers for London via Panama. The vessel, which once flew the Liverpool White Star colors as the Zealandic, is now owned hy the Aberdeen White Star Company, and has loaded under charter to the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company. Apart from a few hundred tons of lead from Sydney the Mamilious has taken away a full cargo of dominion produce, portion of which is consigned to Hull. Her draught was over 28ft when she took her departure from Port Chalmers for the Thames. The Mamilious is the latest vessel out of a number of big oversea carriers to take advantage of the exceptional facilities of Otago Harbor as a final port of departure. The deep-water berthage, associated as it is with an unlimited supply of clean tidal water for boiler and circulating purposes while loading, is a great attraction from the purely engineering point of view, while the facilities for the prompt transfer of cargo from the railway wagons to the holds is a distinct asset in the matter of reliable despatch. It is understood that the berth occupied by the Mamilious is to bo dredged to a greater depth in order to provide _ increased freedom of movement to big vessels, and thus further enhance the attractiveness of Otago Harbor as a final port of departure.
